Send message requests from your Page

This feature is gradually rolling out and may not be available for all Pages yet.
A Page can send up to 10 new message requests per day to start conversations with people and Pages (followers or non-followers).
Note: This does not change your Page’s ability to send a direct message to reply to a person who has commented on your Page’s Post or on a post in a Facebook Group that you manage.

Eligibility for message recipients

In order for your Page to start a conversation with someone, the person you are trying to reach must:
  • Depending on whether the person follows your Page or not, they must have message delivery settings turned on to receive messages from Pages they follow or Pages they don’t follow.
  • Be an adult based on the laws in your country.
  • Be based in a country where this feature is available.
In order for your Page to send a message request to another Page, the Page you are trying to reach must:
  • Have messaging turned on.
  • Not have blocked the sending Page.
  • Depending on whether you are following the receiving Page or if they follow your Page, the receiving Page must allow messages from you in their messaging audience controls. If they don’t, their settings will prevent you from messaging them.

Eligibility for Pages

At this time, Pages with a large number of followers are eligible to send messages to followers. Additionally, a Page must:
  • Have messaging turned on for your Page.
  • Have at least one adult (non-minor) admin.
  • Be based in a country where this feature is available. (Note: Even if available in your country, this feature may not be rolled out to all Pages yet.)
Depending on the laws in your country, before sending a message request to a follower, you may need to ensure that your Page has first obtained the follower's consent or opt-in.

Send a message to a Page or profile

Make sure that you’re switched into your Page before sending a message.
To send a message:
  1. Switch to the Page you want to send a message from.
  2. From Chats, tap .
  3. Type in the name of the user or Page.
  4. Type your message in the text box at the bottom.
  5. Tap .
