Use voice with Meta AI on Messenger

This feature is being gradually introduced and may not be available to you yet. For the most up-to-date experience, make sure to install the latest version of the app.
You can talk to Meta AI on Messenger without needing to type. Voice conversations with Meta AI are currently only available in English.
You will need to allow microphone access on Messenger first.

Talk to Meta AI on Messenger

  1. Open your Messenger mobile app.
  2. From Chats, tap in the search bar. Or, tap the Meta AI tab at the bottom to open your chat with Meta AI, then tap in the text field.
  3. Use your voice to ask a question or share a request. (Example: “What makes the sky look blue?” or “Imagine me as an astronaut in space with a green spacesuit on.”)
  4. Meta AI will provide a voice and text response.
While talking to Meta AI, you can tap:
  • to mute Meta AI’s voice.
  • to mute your own microphone.
  • to end the voice conversation and go to your chat with Meta AI.
Your voice conversation will appear as messages in your chat with Meta AI.

Change Meta AI’s voice on Messenger

  1. From your voice conversation with Meta AI, tap .
  2. Tap a voice option to hear a preview. Tap the option to select it.

Note:

  • Similar to other chats, conversations with AI are subject to our Community Standards and Terms of Service.
  • An AI’s response may be inaccurate or inappropriate, and should not be used to make important decisions.
  • Meta may use your feedback and messages to AI to improve AI quality. Meta may share the messages you send to AI and general information, like your region, with our trusted partners so you can get better results. Visit our Meta AI Terms of Service to learn more.
  • Sometimes, an AI may use your primary location to give you more relevant responses. Your primary location may include the current city that you entered on your profile, connection information such as the IP address of your device and more. Learn more about your primary location.
