Use voice with Meta AI on Messenger

Voice conversations with Meta AI are currently only available in English.
You can talk to Meta AI on Messenger without needing to type. You will need to allow microphone access on Messenger to use this feature.
Talk to Meta AI on Messenger
- Open your Messenger mobile app.
- From Chats, tap
Meta AI in the bottom right.
- If Start with voice is turned on in your Meta AI voice settings, you’ll start a voice conversation right away. If Start with voice is turned off, tap
Voice to start a voice conversation.
- Use your voice to ask a question or share a request. (Example: “What makes the sky look blue?”)
- When you stop talking, Meta AI will provide a voice and spoken response. You can tap
Close or the message field to switch from voice to text at any time.
While speaking to Meta AI, you can tap:
Volume to mute Meta AI’s voice.
Microphone to mute your own microphone.
- Meta AI at the top of the chat, then Voice to change Meta AI’s voice.
You can see transcripts of your voice conversations in your chat with Meta AI.
Turn on Start with voice for Meta AI on Messenger
- Open your chat with Meta AI.
- Tap Meta AI at the top of the chat.
- Below AI info, tap Voice.
- Toggle
Start with voice on and off.
Note:
- Similar to other chats, interactions with AI are subject to our Community Standards and Terms of Service.
- An AI’s response may be inaccurate or inappropriate and should not be used to make important decisions.
- Meta uses your interactions with AIs to improve AI at Meta. If the AIs cannot answer your query, Meta shares the messages you send to AI and general information, like your region, with select partners so you can get better results. Visit our Meta AI Terms of Service to learn more.
- Meta AI uses your location information to give you more relevant responses. Your location information is based on things like the settings you've chosen on your device, or your activity across our products. Learn more about how to manage your location in the Privacy Center.
- Other information from your profile such as your age and gender, and interests based on your activity across our products, such as the types of content, including ads, you view or interact with and how you interact with it, will be used to help personalize your interactions with AI. This information will also be used to improve AI at Meta. Learn more about how Meta uses this information in the Privacy Center. - Depending on your prompt, the content generated may go against our Community Standards or Terms of Service of Meta's platforms. Sharing AI-generated content on our platforms that go against these standards will be treated the same as sharing other content that go against our standards. If you share generated content that goes against our standards, your content may be removed and your account may be restricted or disabled.
