You can edit a message you sent in a chat on Messenger for up to 15 minutes after you send it. After 15 minutes have passed, you can still delete the message.

Edit a message on Messenger

Desktop web (messenger.com)
  1. Hover over the message you want to edit.
  2. Click More.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. Update your message in the text box, then click Save changes.
  5. Your edited message will replace your original message in the chat.

Note:

  • Others in the chat can tap or click an edited message to see edit history.
  • If somebody reports an edited message, the edit history will be shown in the report.
  • Each message you send can be edited up to 5 times.
