Request money from friends on Messenger

Payments in Messenger are only available in the US at this time.
Starting September 29th 2022, you'll no longer be able to send money through Messenger.com or on your desktop computer. You can continue to send money to friends and family using the Messenger app on your mobile device.
To request money from a friend in Messenger, you’ll both need to have an accepted payment method linked to your accounts.
Note: You can't send or receive money in group chats.
Request money
  1. Open your Messenger app.
  2. Start a chat with the friend you want to request money from.
  3. Tap at the bottom of the chat, then tap .
  4. Enter the amount you want to request, then tap Request.
  5. Tap Confirm [dollar amount] request.
To cancel a request, tap your payment request in the chat then tap Cancel Request.

For more support with receiving money sent on Messenger, call 1-888-851-6382. A phone agent may open a case for you.
These agents can only open cases for problems with nonprofit fundraisers and donations, or sending or receiving money on Messenger.
