Hide community chats on Messenger

Community chats are chats created specifically for Facebook groups. Note that they are not available to all groups (example: commerce groups) or people at this time.
You can control which of your Facebook groups appear on Messenger by individually showing or hiding them. When a group is hidden on Messenger, you won’t see its community chats on Messenger, but you can still see and participate in them in your group on Facebook.
Hiding a group will mute community chat notifications across both Messenger and Facebook. It does not mean you are leaving the group, and you can unhide the group any time.

Hide Facebook groups from Messenger

  1. Tap menu.
  2. Next to Communities, tap Edit.
  3. Tap next to each group to show or hide them. means a group will appear, and means a group will be hidden.
  4. Tap Done.

You can also hide a community chat from appearing in your Chats list on Messenger.

Hide a community chat from your Chats list

  1. From your list of chats, tap on the community chat you want to hide.
  2. Tap on the name of the community chat at the top.
  3. Tap Remove from "All".
Removing a chat from your chats list does not remove you from the chat itself. Learn how to leave a community chat or manage notifications for a community chat.
If you are a group admin, you can also learn how to remove the community chats feature entirely for your group.
