If you think a message you've received on Messenger is spam or goes against our Community Standards, you can report the message or the conversation.
When you report an end-to-end encrypted conversation, recent messages from that conversation will be forwarded and sent securely to Meta for review.

Report a message in a Messenger conversation

  1. From Chats, tap the chat containing the message you want to report.
  2. From the chat, tap and hold the specific message you want to report.
  3. Tap More.
  4. Tap Report.
  5. Select a category to help us understand what's wrong.
  6. Tap Submit report.

Report a conversation on Messenger

  1. From Chats, tap the chat you want to report.
  2. At the top, tap the chat name.
  3. Scroll down and tap Report.
  4. Select a category to help us understand what's wrong.
  5. Tap Submit report.
Meta reviews up to 30 of the most recent messages sent in a reported conversation. These reported messages may also be used to help us improve our systems for reviewing other reported content that may go against our standards.
Remember that not everything that may be upsetting violates our standards. Things that go against our Community Standards include, but are not limited to:
  • Bullying or harassment: content that appears to purposefully target a person with the intention of degrading or shaming them, or repeatedly contacting a person despite that person’s clear desire and action to prevent contact.
  • Impersonation: accounts that pretend to be you or someone else.
  • Direct threats: serious threats of harm to public and personal safety, credible threats of physical harm, specific threats of theft, vandalism or other financial harm.
  • Sexual violence and exploitation: content that threatens or promotes sexual violence or exploitation, including solicitation of sexual material, any sexual content involving minors, threats to share intimate images and offers of sexual services.
  • Restricted goods and services: attempts to buy, sell or trade high-risk or non-medical drugs.
