A business chat is a chat with you and a Facebook Page. You may see gray text at the top of the conversation that tells you when you're in a business chat.
Businesses can only message you once you interact with them, such as when you comment on a Page’s post, click on an ad that opens Messenger, or opt in to receiving their messages either on or off Meta technologies. You can always block or report messages with a business.
Pages may use automated chats, AIs from Meta, live agents or a combination of these for their business chats.

What's shared with Pages in Messenger business chats

When you start a business chat, the Page can see your public information, such as your name, profile picture and gender. The Page may use that information to interact with you. Pages also get suggested responses, including replies and actions to take, based on automatic processing of messages.

Business chats and your privacy

Meta may use messages, actions and information you share in business chats to provide faster business response times, personalize your ads and improve features such as translations and AI.
