A business chat is a chat with you and a Facebook Page. You'll see gray text in the conversation that tells you when you're in a business chat.
Pages can only message you after you've engaged with them, such as when you comment on a Page post, click on an ad that opens Messenger, or opt in to messages from a Page.
Pages may use automated chats, live agents, or both for their business chats.
What's shared with Pages in Messenger business chats
When you start a business chat, the Page can see your public information, such as your name, profile picture, gender and time zone. The Page may use that information to interact with you. Pages also get suggested responses, including replies and actions to take, based on automatic processing of messages.
You can control your privacy on Messenger by making certain information private or public to specific people. You can find these privacy settings on the Privacy & safety tab of your Messenger account. Learn how to control your privacy on Messenger.
