You can add emoji effects to words or phrases in your chats on Messenger. When you add an effect to a word, everyone in the chat who has this feature available to them will see an emoji animate across the screen. Anyone in the chat can remove a word effect.

Add a word effect to your chat

  1. Open your Messenger app.
  2. From Chats, tap on a chat.
  3. Tap the chat’s name at the top of your screen.
  4. Tap Word effects.
  5. In the text box, type a word or phrase you want to add an effect to. You can also tap on a suggestion above the text box.
  6. On the left of your word or phrase, tap the emoji. From the menu, search for or select the emoji you want as your effect.
