You can add effects to words or phrases in chats on Messenger. When you add an effect to a word, everyone in the chat will see an animation across the screen.
Note: If you send a message that has multiple words with effects, only the first effect in the chat will activate.
Add word effects
  1. Open your Messenger app.
  2. From Chats, tap on a chat.
  3. Tap the chat’s name at the top of your screen.
  4. Tap Word effects.
  5. In the text box, type a word or phrase you want to add an effect to. You can also tap on a suggestion above the text box.
  6. On the left of your word or phrase, tap the emoji. From the menu, search for or select the emoji you want as your effect.
