Certain browsers support your end-to-end encrypted chats on Messenger and Facebook. This means that the browser you're using determines whether certain features are available and how your chat history is accessed.
These web browsers support end-to-end encrypted chats on messenger.com and facebook.com:
  • Chrome
  • Microsoft Edge
Note: If you use Messenger on a different browser, you may not see all of your chat history and you may not be able to make calls.

What to do if you still can't see your chats

If you're using a browser that supports end-to-end encrypted chats, but you still can't see those chats:
  • Check your browser settings for an update. Keeping your browser up to date helps to avoid performance issues. To update your browser settings, go to your browser's help or support website and follow the instructions. For example, if you're using Chrome, go to the Google Help Center and search for how to update your browser.
  • Turn on secure storage to remotely back up your chat history to access later on other devices.
