Ask Meta AI anything on Messenger

You can reach the Meta AI assistant for questions, advice and more from the Meta AI tab, search bar or directly in a chat on Messenger. You can also talk to Meta AI.
Ask Meta AI from the Meta AI tab
  1. From the Messenger mobile app, tap the Meta AI tab.
  2. Select one of the suggested prompts, or tap the text box to enter your own prompt then tap .
  3. Meta AI will respond to you in a chat, where you can continue the conversation.

  1. From the Messenger mobile app, tap Ask Meta AI anything in the search bar.
  2. Select one of the suggested prompts, or enter your own prompt then tap search on your keyboard.
  3. Meta AI will respond to you in a chat, where you can continue the conversation.
When chatting directly with Meta AI, Meta AI can remember details you choose to share with it. It’ll then use those details when generating responses for you. Learn more about how to have Meta AI remember details about you on Messenger.

Use Meta AI in existing chats on Messenger

You can mention the Meta AI assistant in an existing chat with other people to:

  1. Open an existing chat.
  2. In the text box, enter @ then tap Meta AI, followed by your message. For example, you can ask the AI to answer a question or tell a joke.
  3. Meta AI’s response will be sent as a message in the chat.

Meta AI can only read and reply to messages that mention @Meta AI, including @Meta AI /imagine prompts. Others in your chat will be able to see your message to the AI, as well as the AI’s response. Be mindful before including any personal information in your message (examples: name, address, email or phone number).

Note:

    • Similar to other chats, conversations with AI are subject to our Community Standards and Terms of Service.
    • An AI’s response may be inaccurate or inappropriate and should not be used to make important decisions.
    • In end-to-end encrypted chats with other people, messages that mention @Meta AI and messages from Meta AI are not encrypted. All other messages in the chat remain encrypted unless someone in the chat shares them with Meta to use an optional feature.
    • For certain features, Meta may use your feedback and messages shared with Meta AI to provide and improve AI at Meta. Meta may share the messages you send to AI and general information, like your region, with select partners so you can get better results. Visit our Meta AI Terms of Service to learn more.
    • Sometimes, an AI may use your location information to give you more relevant responses. Your location information is based on things like the settings you've chosen on your device, or your activity across our products. Learn more about how to manage your location in the Privacy Center.
    • Other information from your profile like your age and gender, and interests based on your activity across our products, such as the types of content, including ads, you view or interact with and how you interact with it, may be used to help personalize your interactions with AI. This information may also be used to produce and improve AI at Meta. Learn more about how Meta uses this information in the Privacy Center.
