What information is shared in Messenger business chats
When you start or reply to a chat with a business on Messenger (through a direct message or the business’s Page or ad), businesses will see any information you choose to send through a message and the following:
- First and last name and profile picture to help recognize and address you.
- Gender to help address and describe you (example: “Check on shipping for her”).
- Country and language you chose in your Facebook account’s language and region settings to be able to better greet you.
- Timezone to know when to best service you.
- If you are using Messenger or Instagram.
They’ll also see the following info if you’ve chosen to share it publicly on Facebook.
- Birthday
- Address
- Phone number
- When you liked the Page
- Employment
- Education
- Current city
- Hometown
