Turn off memories or memory notifications on Messenger

This feature is being gradually introduced and may not be available to you yet.
You may see memorable moments from your chats appear in your Friends tab on Messenger. You can turn these memories off at any time. You can also hide a memory.

Turn off memories on Messenger

  1. Tap Menu, then tap Settings.
  2. Scroll down, then tap Memories.
  3. Next to Memories, tap the toggle to turn off memories on Messenger.
    • To turn off only notifications about memories, tap the toggle next to Notifications.
Memories are created from chats that are not end-to-end encrypted. You may see a memory appear if it was originally sent before your chat became end-to-end encrypted.
