How do I connect my classroom, team or group on Messenger Kids?

You can request permission from parents to add their child to group chats and add contacts for their child.
If you are approved:
  • Kids you add to a group chat will become contacts and can chat with each other individually without further parent approval. Parents will be notified of their child’s new contacts.
  • You’ll use Messenger to message your group chats while children use Messenger Kids. Children in your group chats will be able to see your name and profile picture.
  • You can see what happens in group chats you are a part of, but you will not be able to see individual chats between kids you connect.
To ask parents if you can add their child to group chats and add contacts for their child:
  1. Tap this link from your phone to open the group creation screen in your Facebook app.
  2. Tap Next.
  3. Type a group chat name in the text box.
  4. Tap Next.
  5. Tap Copy Link or Email Link.
  6. Send the link to the parents of the children you want to include in your group chat.
Note: Make sure you pick a group chat name that parents will recognize.
To find a link for a group chat you’ve already created:
  1. Tap this link from your phone to open the group creation screen in your Facebook app.
  2. Below Your Group Chats, tap See Group Chats.
  3. Tap Copy Link or Email Link.
Parents with your link can see your name, profile picture and any work, education and current city information listed on your Facebook profile. When a parent approves your request, you’ll become their child’s contact and can add their child to your group chats.
If your connection controls expire:
  • You won’t be able to add the child to group chats with kids they’re not already connected to or add contacts for the child.
  • The child will still be connected to the contacts you made for the child.
If a parent removes you as a contact:
  • Your group chat controls will expire.
  • You won’t be able to chat with the child individually.
What if kids in my group don’t get along?
If you are part of a group chat and kids in your group chat are not getting along, you can:
  • Contact the parents and suggest they remove the child who their child isn’t getting along with as a contact. When a parent removes a child as a contact their child will be removed from all group chats with that child and will not be able to contact that child individually.
  • Delete the group chat. When you delete the group chat kids will still be contacts and can chat with each other individually. Once you delete the chat, you will need parent approval to create a new one.
