If someone who you're not connected with on Facebook sends you a message, you'll receive a message request.

See your message requests on Facebook

  1. In the top right of Facebook, click Messenger.
  2. Next to Chats, click Options at the top.
  3. Click Message requests.
From here, click on the name of the message request sender and choose to:
  • Reply with a message to start a conversation.
  • Click Block or Delete.
Keep in mind that if you delete a message request, you won't be able to see the message again. If you want to message someone who sent a request you deleted, you can send them a message. Your message will go to their message requests.
