How do I connect Facebook contacts with my child’s Messenger Kid’s account?

As a parent, you can add family and friends with existing Facebook accounts (such as a grandparent or older sibling) as contacts for your child from your Parent Dashboard. Your family and friends will be able to message your child directly from their own Messenger accounts. They do not need to download the Messenger Kids app.
To add a Facebook contact for your child:
  1. Log into your Facebook account.
  2. From , click Messenger Kids in the left menu. If you don't see it in your menu, click See More... and scroll down to find it.
    • If you manage multiple accounts, click on a specific child's account below Accounts you manage.
  3. Click Contacts.
  4. Click Add Contacts. Search for people you'd like to add or select a category (example: Family Members, Other Kids, Your Friends), then click Add.
If your contacts have children, you can also send a request for their child to connect with yours on Messenger Kids. Learn more about friending on Messenger Kids.
If you can't find one of your child's friends, click Invite Other Parents to invite their parent to download the Messenger Kids app. Any parent or guardian you invite will be able to see your child's name and photo, but won't be automatically added as your child's contact.
When a child is connected with any person on Facebook, the child will not see their Facebook page. They will only see the person’s name and profile picture.

What if I or my child can’t add someone as a contact on their Messenger Kids account?
If you or your child can’t add another kid as a contact on Messenger Kids, it may be for the following reasons:
  • The kid or the kid’s parent did not accept your child’s friend request.
  • The kid or the kid’s parents blocked your child’s account.
  • The kid’s Messenger Kids account was deleted by their parents or Facebook. To secure the safety of our app, Facebook will delete Messenger Kids accounts that show suspicious activity or have violated our Terms of Service, or are connected to parent accounts that show these behaviors. Learn more about why we may delete a Messenger Kids account.
In other cases, you may not be able to add someone because they do not meet our standards for who can create an account and connect with a kid on Messenger Kids. Keep in mind that we apply our standards more strictly on Messenger Kids because the app is designed for kids.
