People who have 
Active dot by their name or photo are active or have been recently active on Messenger or Facebook.
Active dot by their name or photo are active or have been recently active on Messenger or Facebook.When your active status is turned on, you'll appear as active, recently active and currently in the same chat as others. When your active status is turned off for one app (example: Messenger), you may still appear active on a different app (example: Facebook) that doesn’t have it turned off. If you don’t want to show your active status, turn it off wherever you’re using Messenger or Facebook.
If you don't see Active dot next to someone else’s profile picture, it means they have turned off active status in their settings.

Hide someone from your suggested contacts
Hiding contacts is only available on the Messenger mobile app. For the best experience, update your app to the latest version.
You can hide someone from appearing among your suggestions, such as at the top of your chats list.
- From the top of
Chats on the Messenger mobile app, find the person you want to hide.
- Tap and hold the person’s photo or name.
- Tap Hide contact.
Hiding someone is not the same as blocking them. People you hide will not be notified and you will still be able to search for and chat with them.
To unhide someone, visit your Messenger privacy settings and tap Hidden contacts.
